JAMMU: Six members of a family, including three minors, drowned as the car they were travelling in plunged into a river in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir, on Thursday.
Police sources said that the car was being driven by Mulkhraj Sharma (a head constable) and fell into Budh Nallah, a local tributary of Chenab river. They said that the water flow in the river was quite turbulent and all the passengers were feared drowned.
“Rescue-cum-search operation was launched immediately but neither the vehicle nor any occupant has been traced so far,” sources said. Those feared drowned include Mulkhraj Sharma, Munni Devi, Kulesha Devi, Anamika Devi (16), Shalu Devi (13) and Kaaki Devi (11).
