GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah will introduce the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on December 9 and also put it to vote on the same day, says the schedule of business posted on the Lok Sabha website.
Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been coordinating between Shah and leaders of the northeast on the contentious bill, said Shahs statement in the Lok Sabha before laying the bill on Monday will create a positive atmosphere in the region.
