David Moyes is considering copying Jose Mourinho’s tactic for stopping Eden Hazard when West Ham host Chelsea in Saturday’s lunchtime Premier League kick-off.
The Portuguese coach infamously stopped Hazard by instructing Ander Herrera to man-mark the Belgian as Manchester United inflicted one of few defeats on the champions last season.
And Moyes is toying with using the same method to stop Hazard – who is in sensational form – on Saturday, though is not sure if he has someone capable of replicating Herrera’s display.
Speaking ahead of the match, he explained: ‘There are occasions when I would consider man-marking, and Hazard is a player who would definitely come into that category.
‘I’ve done it in the past with other players, like David Silva at Manchester City — at Everton, I might have put Jack Rodwell on him.

‘The problem is, I don’t know if I’ve got someone who is that type of player to be a man-marker.
‘You’ve heard the saying, “If he goes to the toilet, follow him”. I don’t know if I have that.
‘It needs to be people who are athletic and quick. You say to them, “Don’t you think about doing anything else, this is your job because he’s that important.”
‘Looking through the squad we’ve got, I couldn’t really identify anyone who could do that. But, tactically, it would be a good idea to stop him.’
West Ham are set to be boosted by the return of Javier Hernandez – who has a fantastic record against Chelsea – while the Blues are sweating over the fitness of Alvaro Morata.
