Track a soft 5, with rail out 2m from 1400m to 375m then true for the remiander, so likely on pace early before a shift to the outside
Race 1 MAIDEN PLATE (1106m)
Open maiden for some real battlers here, although local 2YO gelding 10. Full Of Spirit is one who is genuinely on the rise. Flew home late over a shorter trip at Coffs Harbour last start, and step up in distance ideal, with the blinkers coming off. Placed three from five in his first prep.
Dangers: Newcastle 2YO filly 11. Hibern should improve off her debut run when working home fairly in a stronger maiden at Scone, and drawn well. Taree 3YO filly 7. Peachies Dream has been disappointing of late, but has always been in the market and draws an economical barrier.
How to play it: Full Of Spirit to win and box trifecta 7-10-11

Race 2 3YO MAIDEN HCP (1206m)
Open race and market watch on a few first starters that haven't done much at the trials. Like gelding 8. Phylave who resumes for good Taree stable off a nice trial win, and whose record is much better than it looks, despite only one placing from eight starts. Wasn't beaten far in decent maidens at Canberra earlier in the year, and before being spelled finished hard as favourite behind Comzig at Bathurst, who won again at Dubbo on Friday.
Dangers: Local filly and former Victorian 7. Night Terror mixes her form, but if she can get across from a wide barrier and gain some cover will take some holding out. Cessnock debutant gelding 1. Crime Wave hasn't been asked to do a lot at the trials, but draws nicely and leading hoop goes on; while include first up Taree filly 5. Sensational Girl who trialled okay and has blinkers and lugging bit for the first time.
How to play it: Phylave to win
Race 3 CL1 HCP (1206m)
Much more open affair and keen on 4YO Coffs Harbour mare 6. Lunar Tramp second-up over the right trip. Flashed home to win her maiden three runs back and was strong to the line in a deeper race resuming. Up in weight but already a second-up winner.
Dangers: Respect for Taree 4YO gelding 1. Monaco Sniper who resumes for prominent stable and was consistent in good company at his first prep. Weighted to his best but won first up last time. Another Taree runner 3YO gelding 3. Jest Magic won his maiden three runs back at this track and has been finding the line since, but this looks a little stronger. 4. East Esplanade improved sharply at Newcastle last start and should figure in the finish.
How to play it: Lunar Tramp each way
Race 4 WAUCHOPE SPRINT (1100m)
Good competitive race. Always been a big fan of power-finishing local 4YO gelding 2. Patriot and this spot-on. Zoomed home to win the Lightning at Gunnedah two runs back before had little luck caught back and wide in the BM 83 Casino Flying but still charged through the line. Drawn to get lovely cover midfield and finish over the top.
Dangers: Local 4YO gelding 4. Golden Comet will push forward from a low gate and park right on the speed. Has good form around some nice sprinters and was right on the heels of high class Queen Of Kingston two back in a strong BM 84 at Grafton, and that mare won at Ipswich on Saturday. Kempsey 5YO gelding 3. Jexerlent has a solid record and resumes without an official trial but fresh record is strong enough and draws the fence with a 3kg claim. Include Glen Innes-trained 4YO mare 5. Carry On Ringo in exotics who got home from well back in that Lightning at Gunnedah, as well as Taree 5YO mare 6. Valbeata who mixes form but draws well on a nice weight. Wauchope-trained 7YO topweight 1. Prince Mayted can't be dismissed on form and class alone, having finished close-up in stronger metro and provincial races this prep but forced to carry a big weight from an awkward gate.
How to play it: Patriot to win and quinella 2 and 4
Race 5 MAIDEN HCP (1506m)
Open contest with several hopes but improving local mare 3. Veganza again almost cracked her maiden second-up at Coffs Harbour when charging home off a good tempo and can go one better here. Will be forced a long way back from a wide draw but extra trip ideal.
Dangers: Newcastle 3YO gelding 1. Lucitor was given plenty of time at the trials before a fair debut in a stronger maiden at Coffs Harbour and should improve up marginally in trip. Hard to believe local 3YO filly 8. Little Funny Bunny is still a maiden after 15 starts but has placed second in three of her last four and will go forward from a cosy gate. Tuncurry 3YO gelding 7. Listen Mate has only been fair to the line in his last few but is hard fit after four runs, draws to get plenty of cover and will appreciate the extra journey.
How to play it: Veganza to win and box trifecta 1-3-7-8
Race 6 CL2 HCP (1506m)
Some nice depth here. Local 3YO filly 7. Apache Belle at big odds is screaming out for this distance now after powering home in his last couple and looks one of the better weighted runners all day.
Dangers: Big watch on lightly raced and well bred 3YO Newcastle filly 4. Azarmin who won her maiden second-up in December and returns for just her third start off a nice trial at Wyong. Stablemate filly 1. Scenic Sight is progressive and taken on deeper company over longer trips but comes back sharply in journey and up in weight so will need plenty of speed on up front to get into the finish. Wauchope 5YO gelding 9. Wolfram has improved significantly in his last couple and draws a nice trailing gate. Another Taree-trained gelding and long-shot 11. Presscott doesn't have a flash record but comes back from slightly stronger company and draws well.
How to play it: Apache Belle each way and trifecta: 1-4-7/1-4-7-9-11
Race 7 WAUCHOPE RSL CLUB CUP (1506m)
Feature race looks a real battle of tactics and tempo. Improving local 4YO gelding 10. The Kroc rattled home from near last to win a BM 58 at Coffs Harbour two back before found the step up in grade a bit tough last start. Getting a big pull in the weights against more seasoRead More – Source
