Manchester United have placed a £54million bid for Brazil and Juventus winger Douglas Costa, according to reports in Italy.
The Brazilian was on the clubs radar last summer but Jose Mourinho wanted his board to focus their attention on signing a centre-back rather than another forward.
However, Mourinhos departure last week has paved the way for the club to reignite their interest in Costa and Rai Sport claim United have submitted a bid in the region of £54m.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as caretaker boss and, though he will not be given final say on transfers, the Norwegian has been consulted over a move for Costa.
Costa is yet to score this season in his 20 appearances for the Old Lady but Juventus instantly rejected Uniteds approach.
They value Costa at closer to £70m and the Italian giants are under no pressure to sell.
