Fremantle released a statement on Thursday revealing Hill has now been placed on a modified pre-season training program after experiencing soreness in his left quad.
Football operations manager Peter Bell said the club's medical team was seeking specialist advice to help treat Hill's injury, which was causing discomfort when kicking.
Hill has been flagged to play an important midfield role next season to help fill the void left by Lachie Neale, who has moved to the Brisbane Lions.
