Novak Djokovic made a bizarre admission after his testing first-round win over Marton Fucsovics… that the pair had both enjoyed a naked ice bath together while the match was still in progress!
The Serb struggled to handle the humid New York conditions during his four sets victory, but eventually triumphed 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-0 in three hours.
With the scorching heat taking its toll on the players, tournament officials implemented a heat rule, which allows ATP stars to enjoy a 10-minute off-court break at the end of the third set.
Both Djokovic and Fucsovics – who was also feeling the effects of the conditions – were delighted to scamper away from the Arthur Ashe Stadium and seek shelter in the cooler indoor conditions.
And Djokovic revealed in his post-match interview that the pair had both whipped their kit off and enjoyed an ice bath next to one another – before the match was complete.

It was funny because Marton and I were [in the] ice bath one next to the other, he said when asked what he did in the 10-minute break at the end of the third set.
So we had the two ice baths, we were naked in the ice baths – it was a quite wonderful feeling, you know.
Battling with a guy for two-and-a-half hours and then you get into the locker room and you havent finished the match and youre naked in the ice bath.
It was quite a magnificent feeling, I must say.
Djokovic returned looking far fresher and bagelled his opponent to set up a second-round tie with Tennys Sandgren.
