Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has urged Anthony Martial to fight for his place in Jose Mourinhos starting XI.
Martial only made 18 starts in the Premier League last season, managing a total of nine goals, and the Frenchmans attitude has been questioned by Mourinho on a number of occasions.
The forward angered Mourinho this summer by failing to report back to Uniteds pre-season camp in the United States after he attended the birth of his son, Swan, in Paris.

Mourinho confirmed that Martial was fined for going AWOL and Giggs hopes the attacker uses this season to prove his worth and start afresh.

I hope Anthony Martial comes back and fights for his team and once the transfer window closes in Europe then hopefully he will be able to concentrate on his football, Giggs said in his Sky Sports column ahead of Uniteds clash with Brighton.

We have seen glances of his qualities, which are definitely there.
But its up to him to prove he deserves a starting place again.

Giggs believes the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez must provide competition for Romelu Lukaku in the goalscoring department this term.
I would imagine Romelu Lukaku, if he is fit, will come back into the line-up at Brighton as hes obviously Jose Mourinhos first choice, the Welshman said.

But United do have options in Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez as well if hes not ready.
I think hes proven over the last five or six years to regularly get around the 20-goal mark so hes the main man for the centre-forward role; its up to the others to step up and provide competition.
