Matt Toomua has returned to Australian Rugby, signing a two-and-a-half year deal with Rugby Australia and the Melbourne Rebels.
The 28 year old will be eligible for Wallabies selection ahead of the first Bledisloe Cup test against New Zealand at ANZ Stadium on August 18 but he isnt expected to join up with the squad until August 12.

He will also give the Rebels a much-needed five-eighth for Super Rugby 2019 after the position was juggled between Jack Debreczeni and utility back Reece Hodge this past season.
Toomua is the husband of Australian sporting star Ellyse Perry who is also believed to be seeking a move to Melbourne which could prove a boon for Victorian womens cricket.

The 33-test playmaker has been playing with Leicester Tigers in England but he said the lure of home and the Wallabies was too strong.
“Leicester have been fantastic to me throughout my time here,” Toomua said.
“The option to return to Australia was something that did exist within my contract, only if a chance to represent the Wallabies was there and, with a Rugby World Cup next year, was ultimately one I couldnt turn down.
“As well as a chance to represent my country at a World Cup again, the return home also allows me to be closer to both my wife and family after nearly three years on the opposite side of the world.
“The Rebels are a club on the rise and I was really impressed after having a few conversations with [coach] Dave [Wessels] about his plans for the future.”
Toomua is not expected to take part in Fridays trail game between the Wallabies and an Australian Super Rugby select side in Sydney.
