Snapchat fans could soon see a very familiar feature crop up in Facebook Messenger.

The social network is testing out a ‘streaks’ function that’s similar to the hyper-addictive Snapchat feature.

This would mean that people are less likely to choose to use the social network to bang on about every single detail of their lives or share endless pictures of their dog, children or evening meal.

This, in turn, makes it harder for Facebook to learn about people and show them adverts they are likely to engage with.

Streaks are notoriously addictive, so it’s likely they will keep people using Messenger and stop them using products from rivals like Snapchat.

Here’s how Facebook can guess your sexuality using three very simple bits of info.
