Over 320 Indians stranded in foreign lands touch down in Bengaluru on Monday morning

BENGALURU: As the Air India flight from London, under the Vande Bharat mission, landed at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru around 4:47 am on Monday, 323 Indian passengers on board heaved a sigh of relief, hoping that the worst was over after they were stranded in Covid-19 ravaged foreign lands.
Passengers had to wait in the aircraft for nearly an hour before they were allowed to deboard. Only two rows of passengers were allowed to exit at one time, in order to maintain social distancing.
After the flight (AI 1803) landed, all passengers had to first fill out a self-declaration form detailing their health conditions after which they had to undergo mandatory thermal screening and pulse oximeter reading, in batches of 20 to prevent overcrowding.
The passengers were then stamped on the back of their palm with indelible ink showing the number of days they will have to remain under quarantine. Only after this did passengers proceed to immigration clearance, security check and baggage collection. A sim card counter had also been set up after the baggage collection area for passengers. After this they were given the option of picking the facility they wished to be quarantined in — this included five-star hotels and resorts as well.
Amid tight security, strict barricading and frequent sanitization, passengers were escorted into BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses in batches of 20 along Read More – Source
