Day 32 of coronavirus lockdown: Ground report from Indian cities

NEW DELHI: Even as the Union government on Saturday announced relaxation in the closure of shops across the country, several cities continued to grapple with the rising number of coronavirus cases. In Mumbai, the civic body is trying to prevent the community outbreak in Dharavi, while in Ahmedabad, the city added 169 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Here is a look at the latest updates on the outbreak of coronavirus from major Indian cities —

  • Delhi government will soon seek permission from the Centre to use the plasma therapy on all serious novel coronavirus patients as four such patients at the Lok Nayak hospital have shown “encouraging results” to this treatment and two of them are likely to be discharged soon.
  • Delhi high court on Friday sought response from the Centre and the AAP government on a plea that no centrally air-conditioned building, including courts, be used without precaution to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
  • Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday appealed to the recovered Covid-19 patients to donate their plasma to save others.
