An awards-season favourite this year was A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood, the uplifting story of America's beloved children's television icon Fred Rogers, played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-nominated turn.

But film-makers Marielle Heller and Peter Saraf say the late Rogers actually makes a lousy movie protagonist.
