Britain declares coronavirus outbreak a serious and imminent threat to public health

The United Kingdom said Monday that “the incidence or transmission of novel coronavirus constitutes a serious and imminent threat to public health” and outlined measures to delay or prevent its further transmission.

These efforts include designating Arrowe Park Hospital near Liverpool and Kents Hill Park in Milton Keynes as “isolation” facilities, while the Chinese city of Wuhan and the surrounding Hubei province are an “infected area.”

Britain is the second country in Europe to declare the novel coronavirus outbreak an emergency, after Italy.
