NEW DELHI: Indicating its intent to step up agitational politics, Congress on Tuesday formed a high-level “informal” committee to draw up programmes to intensify demonstrations against the BJP government on CAA-NRC and economic issues.
Roughly named “Quick Response Committee”, the “informal” panel comprises senior functionary Ahmed Patel, AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal, All India Congress Committee managers Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Shaktisinh Gohil, Rajeev Satav, Deepender Hooda, Jitin Prasada and Randeep Surjewala.
In the immediate context, the panel is expected to build on the agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, as decided by the joint opposition meeting and Congress Working Committee.
Sources said the party is looking to turn up the heat against Modi government in the Republic Day week by using “celebrations” as the tool.
