Geelong alert but not alarmed about form

Geelong are "alert but not alarmed" about their recent drop off in form – the Cats have lost two of their three games since the bye – as they return to GMHBA Stadium to play St Kilda on Saturday.

Despite remaining sound defensively the Cats have kicked uncharacteristically low scores in their two losses against Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs.

Part of the reason was inaccuracy in front of goal and their method going forward as they kicked 7.13 (55), however the likely return of key forward Esava Ratugolea for his first game since the bye after a hamstring injury and Brandan Parfitt, who was rested against the Bulldogs, will increase their firepower.

Geelong coach Chris Scott said they were confident their overall approach was solid but they were open to making necessary tweaks to improve areas of their game that were falling short and they expected the season to ebb and flow.

The Cats' accuracy in front of goal has been a feature of their game with Scott freely admitting before the bye that it had proved the difference between winning and losing in some games. The match against the Western Bulldogs was the first time they had scored more behinds than goals since round three.
