Manchester United are considering a shock move to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko after submitting an enquiry for the French midfielder, according to RMC.
The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in a £40m deal from Monaco in 2017 as a direct replacement for Nemanja Matic who joined United for a simialr fee.
However, Bakayoko struggled badly to make an impression at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte and was sent out on loan to AC Milan by his successor Maurizio Sarri last summer.
Bakayoko is currently with the Chelsea squad for their pre-season tour of Ireland and like a number of players loaned out last season will have a fresh opportunity to impress following Frank Lampards appointment.
According to RMC, Lampard will run the rule over Bakayoko during Chelseas tour to decide whether or not he fits into his plans for the upcoming season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the lookout for a new central midfield player next season with doubts continuing to surround the future of last seasons top goalscorer Paul Pogba.
