Jarryd Roughead won't be risked at senior level this weekend but the Hawthorn veteran may yet play in the VFL as he recovers from a side strain.
The 32-year-old has played only one match in the AFL since his shock omission after the loss to Melbourne in round seven but Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson said the former captain wouldn't play against Collingwood on Friday night.
"We havent selected him in our senior side because theres still a little bit of doubt as to whether hes recovered from that side strain," Clarkson said.
"He may be able to get up and play for Box Hill. But we just didnt want to be taking that punt that he goes into a senior game and the first five minutes hes sore."

Roughead suffered the side complaint in round 14 against Sydney when he picked up nine touches in the loss to the Swans.
Clarkson said the timing of the match against the Magpies didn't help Roughead.
