Newcastle trainer Kris Lees is starting to believe that two negatives might make a positive with Princess Posh in the final group 1 of the season, the Tatts Tiara, at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The five-year-old mare was controversially scratched lees than an hour before the Stradbroke when vets deemed her action to be showing lameness. It was a bitter pill for the stable to swallow as they watched Queenslands biggest race go to Trekking, which Princess Posh had beaten home when runner-up in the Kingsford-Smith Cup two weeks earlier.

The second perceived negative came at Wednesdays barrier draw when Princess Posh was alotted barrier 19, but it means there is only one plan with her come Saturday.
“You know what – that isnt a bad thing because it takes away the temptation to ride her close,” Lees said of the draw. “We sometimes want to put her in the race and it doesnt really work with her.

“When you look at how things have worked out, it might be for the best.
"She is better with a month between runs, so missing the Stradbroke might be a blessing as well.
“She has really come on since Stradbroke day and it is the best I have had her.
“There is going to be a stack of pressure in the race and she will be back and coming with a late charge.”
She is one of those horses that just seems to get under everyones guard.

Princess Posh has had a wonderful preparation, which dates back to winning the group 3 Newcastle Newmarket in March, where she ran over the top of Savatiano, a rival again on Saturday.
She was placed in the group 1 Coolmore Classic and then flew home in the Kingsford-Smith Cup to beat all but The Bostonian at $151.
“That was the run that got us thinking about the Stradbroke, because of the weight pull she was going to get. Originally, this was the race we came up for,” Lees said.
Princess Posh is a $19 chance for the Tiara, a price that has Lees perplexed when compared to those at the top of betting.
“She is one of those horses that just seems to get under everyones guard,” he said.
