Will the Cats’ mid-season bye curse continue?

Will the Cats’ mid-season bye curse continue?

The Cats have a history of losing after their mid-season bye – can they break the curse this weekend when they face Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval?

The Cats have been impressive this season, haven't conceded 100 points in a match in more than 340 days, and it's hard to see where a loss would come.

This week on The Age Real Footy Podcast, Michael Gleeson, Jake Niall and Greg Baum ask whether Geelong are due for a loss – or if we're just looking for reasons for them to lose.

Also this week, Jesse Hogan will be back at the MCG this weekend with the Dockers, facing his former team, which prompts the question: what it is about Hogan that sees teams he's in perform well?

The Demons signed a star key player of their own last off-season – defender Steven May, who had an excellent first game back from injury before the bye. Will we see a match-up between the two?

Meanwhile, we ask whether the "behavioural awareness officers" would have gone down better with fans if they were labelled differently and what the AFL could and should have done differently in the way they handled the issue. Plus, we debate whether or not the lift in security patrols have been a good or bad thing.

We also discuss Ben Stratton's pinching and how this reputation will stay with him for a long time, Hawthorn's woes as an older, middle-of-the-road team, and the upside for Essendon going into the bye.

All this plus whispers about the King twins, Dustin Martin's housemate and much more.
