Hawthorn captain Ben Stratton will potentially come under scrutiny from the match review officer for incessantly pinching Essendon forward Orazio Fantasia during his side's loss on Friday night.
Stratton employed the bizarre tactic, most notably used in recent times by former Collingwood defender Craig Kelly and ex-Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley, so forcefully that Fantasia finished the game with numerous bruises on the back of his left arm.
The issue was raised with the umpires at quarter-time. Stratton could be cited for misconduct, which is what happened to Crowley and he was ultimately fined $1200 for pinching Kangaroos champion Brent Harvey in 2013.
Speaking to Channel Seven after the Bombers 19-point win over the Hawks, Fantasia said: “Ive got a couple of bruises on the arm, Stratts loves to pinch.

“Hes a really good defender, so to come back and play on him I knew I was in for a tough night.
“You cant do anything about it … hes got all the tricks in the book.”
