Cape Town – Atletico Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester City in the race to clinch the signature of Benfica starlet Joao Felix in the off-season.
The Citizens were believed to be leading the chase for the highly-rated 19-year-old, who has already been dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo.
There is a release clause of £106 million in his current contract, and Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has hinted that Felix will depart at some point this summer if that valuation is met.
Manchester United have also been mentioned as a potential suitor, but with no Champions League football on offer at Old Trafford, City were sitting ahead of them in the running.
Atletico have now entered the fray as they look to compensate for the expected departures of Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann.
