Paige Hadleys impact on this seasons Super Netball competition for the high-flying NSW Swifts has inspired the view that she will eventually be seen as the prototype for modern netballers.
Hadleys decision to follow a torturous weight-training program under the supervision of Swifts strength and conditioning coach Lukas Cannan has resulted in her packing four kilograms of solid muscle onto her frame.
Allied with the 26-year-olds new mental approach of "living in the now" by blocking out her old disappointments and fears, the heavy metal sessions have shaped her into a formidable foe who possesses an even greater level of explosiveness and strength.

When asked for the secret to Hadleys success, Cannans response was succinct: “Dedication and commitment."
“From nutrition, treatment of any injuries, her recovery, monitoring herself, doing all the extras, Paige is the ultimate professional," he said. "Shes been an extremely hard worker throughout her whole career, but what came out of our post-season review was Paige had the vision to become even more explosive.

Hadley, who can deadlift 180kg – almost three times her body weight – and squat 140kg, credited her hours in the gym with preparing her body to cope with the physicality that is now part of what is described as the worlds best netball competition.
