Sydney FC are on the cusp of prying star striker Kosta Barbarouses away from fierce rivals Melbourne Victory.
Barbarouses has agreed to personal terms on a multi-year deal with Sydney FC in move that will take next season's Big Blue bitterness to a new level.
The Sydney Morning Herald understands a deal between the 29-year-old and Sydney could be finalised in the coming days, which would make Barbarouses the first major signing for the Sky Blues since clinching the A-League title last month.
Despite years of success in the A-League and abroad, Barbarouses proved a revelation for Victory last year when used as a striker instead of a winger. The New Zealand international was the top scorer for Melbourne last season with 14 but has played his last game for the club.

Despite his form in front of goal last season, sources suggest Sydney FC are set to sign Barbarouses as a player registered inside of their salary cap and not as a marquee player.
Barbarousesis a free agent after his contract with Melbourne Victory expired on May 31.
