Vic Country were never headed after taking a slender lead into quarter-time, and the game was sealed midway through the final quarter when crumbing forward Ned Cahill swooped on a loose ball and snapped his second goal.
Highly touted Vic Metro midfielder Matt Rowell played well with 28 disposals, showcasing his ability to put teammates into space when gathering the ball in tight, and he received good support from schoolmate Noah Anderson, who had 25 touches.
However it was Vic Country who had the better players, with Josh Smith kicking three goals, Caleb Serong classy by foot and Lachlan Ash showing dash out of defence when the game was up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn and St Kilda would have been pleased with their respective Next Generation Academy prospects Harrison Pepper (Hawthorn) and Bigoa Nyuon (St Kilda), with both showing flashes. The two clubs will have priority access to draft the players next season.
