Steven Gerrard believes Jordan Henderson must start at the heart of Liverpools midfield in tomorrows Champions League final against Tottenham.
An injury to Naby Keita has only marginally made Jurgen Klopps midfield selection dilemma less complicated, with club skipper Henderson vying with the likes of Fabinho, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum.
Klopp has regularly extolled the virtues of the England international this season but still saw fit to leave him out of the starting line-up for the first leg semi-final defeat at Barcelona before Keitas season was ended by injury.
With Henderson back in the team, Liverpool astonishingly overturned a 3-0 first leg deficit to reach their second successive showpiece European final.

Wijnaldum scored twice after coming off the bench at half-time and subsequently admitted he was angry at having been dropped but Gerrard, Liverpools most recent Champions League winning captain, believes whoever misses out against Tottenham must do so at the expense of Henderson.

Gerrard told BBC Radio 5 Live: Ive always been a fan of Jordan Henderson, I believe hes a selfless player, I think he does a lot of work for the team that goes unnoticed.
I know what hes like on and off the pitch. He puts himself behind everyone else; hes just that type of person.
I think hes more than capable of winning any football match that hes playing in and I think of late, certainly since hes been playing a further forward role, hes taken more responsibility and has been one of Liverpools most consistent players.
