Unai Emery is keen to push through a bargain £12.6million move for out of favour Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
The Arsenal manager spent £19.6million on Germany international Bernd Leno in the summer but wants to provide further competition for the 26-year-old, who has usurped Petr Cech as the clubs No.1.
Cech is expected to leave at the end of the season with his contract drawing to a close, along with his former understudy, David Ospina, who is currently on loan at Napoli.
Emery is said to have been impressed with current third choice Emiliano Martinez, but does not believe the Argentine, 26, is ready to be promoted up the pecking order, while the club have been scouting 19-year-old Legia Warsaw goalkeeper Radoslaw Majeck.

Navas, 32, meanwhile, is likely to be available for a cut-price fee next month having lost his status as Madrid No.1 to summer signing Thibaut Courtois, despite having played a prominent role in three successive Champions League winning campaigns.

The Costa Rica international is desperate for regular football having started just twice in La Liga this season and El Confidencial report that Emery is a keen admirer of Navass and wants to make him a priority target in the upcoming window.
Leno has impressed following a slow start to his Arsenal career after his move from Bayer Leverkusen, but was at fault for Charlie Austins winning goal in last weekends defeat at Southampton which ended Arsenals 22-game unbeaten run.
Reflecting on that mistake, Leno said: The last goal was a little bit unlucky for me because I wanted to get the cross because Austin was completely free and it was so close.
I touched the ball a little bit but I missed it so it was a little bit unlucky. No risk, no fun.
Maybe next time I will get the ball or I will stay on the line look at the ball and nobody says You came out and didnt get the ball. Thats the life of a goalkeeper but I would do it again.
After 22 games, you can lose a game so it is disappointing but now nobody talks anymore about the unbeaten run and we can look forward.
