Champion jockey Hugh Bowman returns to Sydney racing at Warwick Farm today and he is shaping up as the punters pal with three strong winning chances for Godolphin to close out the meeting.
Taniko, Deprive and Regent will attract plenty of attention and each have been placed in races by trainer James Cummings where – if they handle the expected wet conditions – they all loom large. The question of whether the promising Deprive will handle a wet track would be the only reason he is not a very short-priced favourite in the Cabra-Vale Diggers Sprint (1000 metres).
Deprives pedigree suggests he should swim – his sire Denman won on a heavy 10 and his dam Defrock is by Canny Lad who is a noted producer of wet trackers. He is unbeaten in Sydney, unbeaten first-up, unbeaten at Warwick Farm and an impressive recent trial winner against open company.
When Bowman is legged on board Taniko in the Russolini Group Handicap (1200 metres) he will be hoping for better luck than Brenton Avdulla experienced in her second-up defeat at the last Canterbury night meeting.

Despite running fifth, Punters Intel data reveals Taniko ran 34.94 seconds for her last 600metres and 11.48 for her final 200 metres, both the second fastest of race, even though she couldnt gather any momentum until the race was over.
Momentum will also be key to Bowmans chances of coaxing a win out of Regent in the Rose Maree Chain Memorial (1400metres). Regent ran a race best 33.84 for his last 600 metres when sweeping home late into fifth at Randwick almost a month ago and perhaps blinkers can provide him the edge he needs.
Warwick Farm Best Bets:
Race 6: (6) Deprive
Race 7: (3) Regent
Value: Race 4 (7) Tinker Dan
Best Quinella:
Race 3 – (1) Sure Knee & (2) The Art of the Bar
