She wrote on Twitter: "Firefighters, I love you and thank you for doing all that you can to keep us safe!"

Later she shared a picture of herself kissing her seven-month-old niece True, the daughter of Khloe Kardashian .

The caption said: "Trying to get my mind off of this fire and snuggling with my niece. We are all safe and that's all that matters."

Singer Lady Gaga posted a video on her Instagram account saying she had evacuated her Malibu home, and showing images of dark billowing smoke overhead.

Thank you to the fire fighters, police, first and emergency responders for doing above and beyond everything you can do to help us. You are true heroes. #CaliforniaFire
