Jose Mourinho was forced to defend his team selection and tactics to his Manchester United players in the dressing room after Saturdays defeat to West Ham, according to reports.
The Portuguese coach has endured a miserable week, drawing at home to Wolves, getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Championship side Derby County and then losing at the London Stadium.
His tenure at United is on the precipice of disaster, having fallen out with a number of his squad – notably Paul Pogba.
Mourinho was criticised for his decision to switch to an unconvincing back three against West Ham, though The Sun report that he told the players his line-up was not to blame.
Instead, the Portuguese coach blamed the loss on bad refereeing decisions, rather than his own tactics.

Mourinho had opted to play young midfielder Scott McTominay in a three-man central defence against the Hammers, something that raised a few eyebrows given Eric Bailly is fit and available.
Uniteds players are fast losing patience with Mourinhos approach both on and off the pitch.
Pogbas frosty exchange with Mourinho in training last week was seen by millions, and the French World Cup winner is described as being embarrassed by his managers use of him.
He is not happy with the formation and tactics being employed, something that stretches back to last season when he was desperate to be used on the left side of a three-man midfield, while Mourinho continued to play him alongside Nemanja Matic.
