Former France international striker Thierry Henry has agreed to become manager of Ligue 1 side FC Girondins de Bordeaux. The appointment sees Henry take his first full-time role as a head coach.
Henry was assistant to Roberto Martinezs Belgium side at the 2018 World Cup this summer. The Red Devils enjoyed a successful campaign in Russia, where they reached the tournament semi-finals and finished in 3rd place overall.

The 41-year-old replaces former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet in the Bordeaux hot seat. The Uruguayan only joined the club in January, but endured a torrid time at the helm.
Broadcaster RMC Sport, who reported the news on Wednesday, said the club's prospective new US owners – who agreed to buy Bordeaux at the end of July – have yet to validate the agreement.

As a player, Henry achieved legendary status at Premier League club Arsenal and was a member of their Invincibles league-winning side in 2004. He later moved to Barcelona, with whom he won the 2009 Champions League.
As an international, Henry won the 1998 World Cup with France as well as the 2000 European Championship.
