English football club West Bromwich Albion revealed their new mascot to fans at their season opener on Saturday, although the bizarre addition to the clubs ranks didnt seem to go down too well.
Boiler Man emerged onto the pitch to greet supporters ahead of the teams opening day clash at the Hawthorns against Bolton in Englands second-tier Championship.
The mascot is a nod to the clubs new sponsorship deal with company Ideal Boilers.
Its safe to say the white home appliance soon felt the heat from fans, with some in the away section heard breaking out into a chorus of “what the f***ing hell is that?” and others simply laughing.
How have I only just seen this Meet West Broms new mascot… yes, its a boiler with legs, wearing a cap. I kid you not. I love this season already #WBApic.twitter.com/zOYCIU1wl1

I've just discovered West Brom's new mascot is a BOILER and it genuinely made me cry with laughter. pic.twitter.com/xB2OpBhdS1

The boiler did melt some fans' hearts after a while though, and seemed to take the stick in good humor.
To be fair to the boiler, he's now having a kick around with the mascots and letting the kids nutmeg him. I don't know if it's the suit or not, but he's walking around with a massive strut. I can't stop laughing.

West Brom – who were relegated from the Premier League last season – went on to lose the game 2-1 after a late winner from Boltons Yanic Wildschut.
Fans will hope the boiler can fire up the team better the next time they turn out at home against Queens Park Rangers on August 18.
