
Zeljko Buvac will not be returning to Liverpool and the club are expected to confirm Pep Lijnders as his replacement as Jurgen Klopps assistant, according to reports.
The Bosnian Serb left the club just days before the Reds Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma amid rumours of a falling out with Klopp, while he has been linked with a number of managerial vacancies since then.
Officially Buvac is still an employee of Liverpool and has been away due to personal reasons, but the Liverpool Echo report that his exit will be confirmed shortly.


Lijnders, who spent several years working with Klopp and Buvac, returned to Merseyside this summer after a brief and unsuccessful spell with NEC Nijmegen.

However, he was never given an official job title – having previously been development coach – and there is now an expectation that he will fill the void left by Buvac as Klopps No.2.

He has already been taking charge of training sessions this summer, putting the Liverpool squad through their paces in Charlotte as the squad began their tour of the United States.
The Reds take on Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United over the coming days before returning to Europe for a pre-season training camp in Evian, France.


Lijnders left NEC after failing to win promotion from the Dutch second division and was quickly offered a return to Anfield by Klopp.
The Liverpool boss remained in contact with the Dutchman and enjoyed a strong relationship before he returned to his homeland, while he is also well liked and highly respected by the players.
