Basketball star Tyler Honeycutt has been found dead after reportedly exchanging gunfire with police.
Tributes have been paid to the former NBA player who died in an apparent suicide in Los Angeles, according to US media.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) – which did not name Honeycutt – said it had been called to reports of a man armed with a gun who was barricaded in a property.
"We can confirm that during the initial encounter the suspect fired a shot out of the residence and officers returned fire," the force said on Twitter.
"It appears as if the suspect was not struck by any officer's gunfire.
"The suspect appears to have sustained injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Crisis negotiators and a SWAT team attended the scene after the incident was reported at around 5pm on Friday.

She had reportedly called police saying her son was acting erratically.
Honeycutt, 27, began his basketball career at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2011.
He had spells with the Houston Rockets, Israeli club Ironi Nes Ziona, Russian team Khimki and Turkish side Anadolu Efes.
