
Mikel Arteta will not be the next Arsenal manager after the Gunners board decided to appoint a more experienced boss, according to reports in Spain.
The Manchester City coach had been the favourite to replace Arsene Wenger with reports going as far to claim that his arrival would be announced this week.
However, Marca claim Ivan Gazidis and Stan Kroenke are in agreement that Artetas appointment would be a risk and the Gunners need a more experienced manager at the helm.
The report states that Arteta was very close to becoming Arsenals next manager before a change of heart at boardroom level convinced the club to look elsewhere.
