Anthony Martial has broken his silence after missing Manchester Uniteds final Premier League game of the season by paying tribute to Michael Carrick.
The France international was not named in Jose Mourinhos matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Watford, even though the United manager had promised to start the forward after the goalless draw against West Ham on Thursday evening.
Reports had claimed that Martial was at Old Trafford but left in a car before the match had began.
Mourinho subsequently denied those claims and insisted that the 22-year-old had suffered a knee injury in training on Friday.
United supporters had viewed Martials omission as another suggestion that the player could be leaving Old Trafford this summer.

And while Martial has not addressed the speculation surrounding his future, he has taken the opportunity to praise Carrick, who played the final game of his career on Sunday.
In his post on Twitter after Uniteds win a Old Trafford, Martial wrote: What a player and also a great man thanks for all your advice! Have a great retirement Legend @carras16.
Carrick will take up a full-time role as Uniteds first-team coach this summer.
Martial, meanwhile, is a doubt for next Saturdays FA Cup final against Chelsea due to his knee injury.
