An auto dealerships cars were mysteriously set ablaze in Jacksonville, Fla., Monday.
Five cars at the Riverside Chevrolet car dealership were set on fire with three completely destroyed in the aftermath, according to News4Jax. A surveillance camera from across the street captured a person using a gas can to cause the cars to light up. Jon Moore, the spokesman for the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, called the reason for the fire suspicious.
The incident comes after the dealership was accused of failing to pay off customers trade-in vehicles. The dealerships actions have caused significance failure in customers credit scores with many of their customers being members of the military. The dealership is also accused of failing to pay off a customers loan, causing serious financial setbacks, according to an investigation published by New4Jaxs I-TEAM on May 3.
“We have designated a specific individual Natalie Batissa to personally assist our customers with any information concerning vehicle payoffs,” said Damon Ferguson, the Riverside Chevrolet General Manager, in an email for I-TEAM called “Plan of Action.”
The dealership opened in October 2016.
