Jerry Jones disputed reports Friday that Dallas Cowboys player Jason Witten will be retiring this year to take a job with ESPN.
“Ive talked to Jason several times this week. Ive met with him, I met with him as late as just a few hours ago, and weve had great discussions. Ill keep the details of those discussions private forever,” the Dallas Cowboy owner shared during a press briefing about the clubs first round draft pick Leighton Vander Esch.

“He [Witten] has some things to think about and discuss with his family from a professional perspective,” he added. “He also told me he is going to need some more time for consideration, at least through the weekend. He has not made any decisions that are definite at this time. We have no announcement at this time.”
The comments follow earlier reports that Witten will retire after playing for 15 years in the league, according to ESPN.
The all-pro tight end holds 11 Pro Bowler titles and has broken numerous NFL records, including having the most receptions in a single season by a tight end with 110 in 2012 and the most receptions in a single season by a tight end with 18 that same season.
