The London Marathon is happening today and tens of thousands of ordinary people are, bizarrely, going to be running for the best part of 30 miles.

Whilst it is a fantastic achievement to get round 26.2 miles in any time, the elite runners will be doing so in just over two hours, which is mind-bogglingly fast.

Two years ago, Eliud Kipchoge set a course record by completing the London Marathon in 2:03:05 to win the race for a second time.

In 2017 Mary Keitany broke the womens world marathon record by running it in 2:17:01, and she is back this year to try and beat it.

Mo Farah will be running the London Marathon for the second time after having a crack at it in 2014.

The Olympic hero managed it in 2:08:21 which saw him finish eighth – just under four minutes behind winner Wilson Kipsang.

The bookies give Farah a chance of winning the race this time around, but he is comfortably behind the favourite in the odds, the man who has won it twice before – Kipchoge.
