Manchester United chiefs met with the agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho on Friday evening, according to reports in Italy.
The 26-year-old has been one of Napoli’s standout players this season and has been linked with a host of clubs, including United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho has admitted United will be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer to replace Michael Carrick, who is retiring.
Jorginho featured for Italy on Friday evening as they were beaten 2-0 by Argentina at the Etihad Stadium.
And according to Rai Sport, Jorginho’s representative Joao Santos was in Manchester and held a meeting with United’s hierarchy.
The report also claims that Santos also had discussions with representatives from Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Earlier this week, reports claimed that Liverpool were confident of securing a £50 million deal for Jorginho this summer.
