Sean Penn is taking heat this week as he promotes his debut novel, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff.
The award winning actor’s book, due out next week, follows a man named Bob Honey who’s “a modern American man, entrepreneur, and part-time assassin,” who threatens to assassinate the President.
In the novel, the President known unaffectionately as “Mr. Landlord” is widely thought to be a depiction of Trump. In a lengthy poem, Bob Honey tells the President that “many wonderful American people in pain and rage elected you. Many Russians did, too.” He also points out that “A million women so dwarfed your penis-edency on the streets of Washington and around the world on the day of your piddly inauguration,” and “Aryan” people march in support of the President.
Doesn’t sound like Penn strained his imagination too much while writing this book.
He did probably watch a few too many murder documentaries, judging by the following excerpt:
You are not simply a president of impeachment, you are a man in need of an intervention. We are not simply a people in need of an intervention, we are a nation in need of an assassin. I am God’s squared-away man.
In the book, Penn also recounts a story where the main character interviews a drug lord from South America. Which likely harkens back to the time Penn covertly interviewed El Chapo in 2016.
Penn also takes aim at the #MeToo movement in the book’s final pages, calling it both “reckless” and a “toddlers’ crusade.” Pretty ironic, seeing as Penn dealt with his own allegations in the 1980’s after his then-wife Madonna claimed he hospitalized her by hitting her in the head with a baseball bat.
Sean Penn also cozied up to Hugo Chavez, claiming the former Venezuelan dictator had done “incredible things for the 80% of the people that are very poor there.”
All in all, it’s pretty ironic that Sean Penn seems to view himself as a sort of moral authority on anything.
Either he’s a completely uninformed moron who’s starved for attention, or he genuinely believes Donald Trump deserves to be assassinated. Either way, Penn should probably spend less time with his publisher and more time in a psychiatric ward.
