NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch blasted the Broward County Sheriff’s Department for doing “nothing” to prevent the Parkland high school shooting Thursday.
Loesch’s comments come after Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said a deputy was at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while gunman Nikolas Cruz was shooting but “never went in,” although the officer was aware the gunman was inside the school.
The NRA spokeswoman was also responding to a tweet sent out by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which quoted Israel saying Loesch was not “standing up” for the students.
You didn’t stand up for them when they repeatedly reported that this murderer was threatening them in messages that violated FL law, his parents reported he “held a gun to others’ heads;” 39 visits and 2 FBI reports and NOTHING. It’s literally your job. Not mine. https://t.co/KjQhfvQc2N

Loesch followed up by saying Israel sat on stage with her last night while knowing his deputy, present on the scene during the shooting and armed, did “nothing”. (RELATED: Dana Loesch Battles Anti-Gun Students)
Additionally, @browardsheriff sat on that stage with me last night fully aware that his deputy had been outside and armed while this madman had four minutes to massacre — and said NOTHING.

Scott Peterson, the deputy, was suspended without pay and has resigned.
