Djokovic is not the only ATP Tour star to remain in contact with Serena, with Stan Wawrinka gifting her daughter a tiny pair of Tod’s driving loafers, while WTA aces Caroline Wozniacki, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Angelique Kerber have all reached out to her throughout the year.
Williams added that her modern day ‘GOAT’ (greatest of all time) rival Roger Federer – a 19-time Grand Slam champion – was finding life as a tennis-playing parent much easier than her.
‘It’s so unfair,’ she said.
‘He produced four babies and barely missed a tournament. I can’t even imagine where I’d be with twins right now.
‘Probably at the bottom of the pool.’
Despite joking with Djokovic that their children could link up on court in the future, Williams admitted she was horrified when she saw her daughter transfixed by Argentine player Juan Martin del Potro.
‘I was distraught when I saw her,’ she added. ‘I would hate for her to have to deal with comparisons or expectations.
‘It’s so much work, and I’ve given up so much. I don’t regret it, but it’s like Sliding Doors: Go through a different door and lead a different life.
‘I’d like her to have a normal life. I didn’t have that.’
