Green Day guitarist and lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump this week over his tweet mocking Kim Jong-un’s New Year’s speech in which the North Korean dictator threatened to vaporize “the entire mainland of the U.S.”
“The entire mainland of the U.S. is within the range of our nuclear weapons, and the nuclear button is always on the desk of my office,” Jong-un said. President Trump fired back, tweeting that his nuclear button is “much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

Armstrong didn’t find Trump’s response amusing and insisted that the president be removed from office.
“This isnt funny. This is our president acting like a madman drunk on power THREATENING to kill innocent starving people by way of nuclear war,” Armstrong wrote on Instagram this week. “The 25th amendment needs to be enforced. This man is sick and unfit for office. I don’t care if your liberal or conservative.. this has to stop.”
Armstrong and his rock band, of course, have a history of hurling insults at President Trump.
In August 2016, Armstrong told Kerrang! magazine that then-candidate Trump is “fucking Hitler.” A few months later, in an interview with NME, the rocker blamed the rise of Trump on “uneducated white working-class people.”
In November 2016, during a performance at the American Music Awards, Green Day chanted “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!” from the stage.
