New research from MissTravel has found that American women find a British accent the sexiest for men, with 20% saying they’re most attracted to men with a British accent.
For men, however, things are a little different. American men said they find women with Israeli accents the hottest, which we reckon is down purely to Gal Gadot. Her voice pretty hot.
In close second for men was a Colombian accent, which, again, we believe is down to the celebs sporting it. Of course men will say a Colombian accent is hot if they’re thinking of Sofia Vergara.

First off, MissTravel hasn’t shared the details of this research, how it was conducted, or how many people they asked (we’ve reached out to find out, but haven’t heard back yet). It’s very possible that this is just a small sample size of people’s individual accent preferences, tainted by their own experiences.
It’s also worth noting that recent news events appear to have influenced the results. Would the answers have been the same two years ago, when Gal Gadot wasn’t Wonder Woman and Prince Harry hadn’t just got engaged? We’re not so sure.
People have their own tastes and preferences, and what’s sexy to one person does absolutely nothing for another.

There’s a huge variety within country-specific accents, so it seems a little reductive to declare that British accents are hot when there’s such a difference between a London accent and a Liverpudlian.
And, of course, you can’t get by on an accent alone. It might work to lure someone in to your dating web, but it won’t keep them around forever.
