Jose Mourinho is on the verge of breaking Sir Matt Busby’s record following Manchester United’s victory over Brighton on Saturday.

Ashley Young’s deflected strike, which has been registered as an own goal by Lewis Dunk, was enough for United to secure a 1-0 win over Chris Hughton’s side at Old Trafford.

The victory means Mourinho’s side have extended their unbeaten run at Old Trafford to 39 games, which equals the record set by Busby’s team in 1966.

Mourinho now needs to avoid defeat in their next home match against CSKA Moscow on December 5 to set a new record.

The win against Brighton has put United five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who face Huddersfield on Sunday.
