Jose Mourinho has indicated he believes Anthony Martial is Manchester United’s most improved player so far this season.
The France international struggled to adapt to Mourinho’s demands during the Special One’s first year at Old Trafford but has emerged as a key component of United attack that has amassed 36 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Martial has contributed five Premier League goals this term, already beating his tally from the last campaign, and registered two further assists. His return to form has prompted Didier Deschamps to recall him to the senior national squad and he was earlier this week shortlisted for TF1’s Young French Player of the Year award.

‘I think they give what they can,’ Mourinho said of his attacking players, before lavishing praise on Martial.
‘I cannot complain about the dedication or the motivation. They all try to give their best.
‘I think we had an improvement with Martial. He’s scoring more goals than last season. That’s why he is playing more. He has more minutes on the pitch.
‘The other players are what they are. They have different kinds of qualities. Sometimes they produce a lot, and we have lots of chances and we don’t score enough.’
