FOX Sports West 2017 High School Football Rankings: Week 9

Greg Biggins of Scout.com breaks down his latest rankings for the CIF-SS football season.

ICYMI: Our 2017-18 schedule

Rank (Previous) School, Record

1. (1) Mater Dei, 8-0 (Vs. Orange Lutheran, Friday, Prep Zone)

In what was supposed to be a tight battle, the Monarchs blew out previously undefeated JSerra 45-3. The defense was very impressive and JT Daniels and Amon-Ra St. Brown both made big plays to lead the offense.

2. (2) Centennial, Corona, 6-1 (Vs. Norco, Friday, Prime Ticket)

The Huskies were up on Corona 65-0 at the half and called the dogs off in the second to win by the same margin. Tanner McKee threw for 184 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another in only a quarter and a half of work.

3. (3) St. John Bosco, 6-2

The Braves hung on to beat a tough Santa Margarita squad 40-38. Super sophomore DJ Uiagalelei set a school record with 405 yards passing and probably had at least another 50+ yards in drops.

4. (4) Mission Viejo, 9-0

The Diablos were dominant once again with a 63-0 win over Trabuco Hills. Olaijah Griffin and Austin Osborne both had big plays and showed why they’re among the nation’s top recruits.

The Highlanders shut out Chino Hills 56-0 to stay undefeated. David Baldwin had a big game on this one going 12-16 for 248 yards and four touchdowns.

6. (7) Chaminade, 7-1

The Eagles shut out Alemany 45-0 with Blake Antzoulatos starring in this one. The junior linebacker had 12 tackles, two sacks and a 5-yard rumble return for a touchdown.

7. (5) JSerra, 7-1 (Vs. Santa Margarita, Friday, Prep Zone)

The Lions took it on the chin from top ranked Mater Dei, falling 45-3 and will try to rebound this weekend against Santa Margarita.

8. (8) Rancho Cucamonga, 7-1

The Cougars breezed to a 48-7 win over Etiwanda. Nick Acosta, Sean Dollars and Kamar Brown all had big games in the win.

9. (9) Long Beach Poly, 7-1

The Jackrabbits didn’t have much trouble against an outmanned LB Jordan team, winning 81-0. QB Matt Corral was 10-13 for 320 yards and five touchdowns.

10. (10) Santa Margarita, 5-3 (At JSerra, Friday, Prep Zone)

The Eagles battled and had several opportunities to take the lead in this one but fell just short against St. John Bosco 40-38. They’ll take on JSerra this weekend.
