Jurgen Klopp insists he is taking Liverpool‘s defensive problems seriously following his side’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham.
The German coach was spotted laughing on the touchline after comical defending from Dejan Lovren for Tottenham’s second goal.
Pochettino provides update on Kane injury ahead of Man Utd clash
Soon after he hauled the defender off but it made little difference with Liverpool conceding twice more at Wembley.
While the laugh was clearly gallows humour from the Liverpool manager, in his post match press conference he was asked if it was the correct way to act.
Klopp made it clear his overall feeling was not one of humour.
‘I said we have to work on it. We have to prove we are better defenders than today.
‘We have had three unbelievable big scoresheets. Watford [a 3-3 draw], Man City [a 5-0 defeat] and today. 12 goals – that’s crazy!
‘The only way to fix it is to stay strong. Everything is clear, each job is clear. We will fix it.’
While Lovren’s mistake was the most obvious, with the defender completely missing a header, Klopp said the whole team was to blame for the defeat.
‘I don’t want to blame players. Lovren was not worse [than anyone else].’

The Liverpool manager denied that his team, which won 7-0 against Maribor in the Champions League in midweek, have an attitude problem.
‘I don’t think it’s attitude. Did Tottenham boys want it more? Yes. In a few situations in a game. I don’t want to say anything positive about us but it’s not attitude.
‘Whatever you say today about us in a negative way you’re right.’
