Canberra gymnast Michaela Smith has capped off a superb national championships for athletes from the capital by being named the Australian champion after claiming two gold medals and a silver in the under-15s category.
Canberra gymnasts won 27 medals, including a staggering nine gold medals, at the Australian championships in Melbourne earlier this week.
There were 70 athletes representing the ACT across the four categories at the two-week competition at Hisense Arena.
There were a number of impressive individual performances from Canberra gymnasts, with Smith finish as the top-ranked level nine open 15s and under division, as well as winning gold on the beam and the floor and silver on the vault.
Woden Valley's Adam Falzarano won gold on the rings in the senior international division, while James Bacueti of Southern Canberra Gymnastics won silver on the vault.

Simon Bewick from Canberra City finished with three medals, including a gold on the floor and silver on pommel and parallel bars.
The strong performance from the Canberra contingent was rounded out by Valeriy Shuster winning womens artistic gymnastics coach of the year award.
